Fra Bartolomeo took holy orders at San Marco, in the convent whose walls Fra Angelico frescoed more than half a century earlier. He established a workshop devoted to the creation of sacred art. In his monumental Last Judgment fresco executed for Santa Maria Nuova he portrayed Angelico in the heavens among the saints.
