Madonna and Child

The relief is in the Chapel of Filippo Strozzi, dedicated to the Apostles Philip and James. The chapel belonged to the Boni family and in 1486 was ceded to Filippo Strozzi the Elder, whose name is connected with the construction of the Strozzi Palace in Florence. Behind the altar in a porphyry tomb is Filippo Strozzi's body. Over the tomb, surrounded by a garland of roses and angels is the relief of Benedetto.
