Gianlorenzo Bernini - in his maturity and during his later years when he worked mainly for churches - was surrounded by assistants of distinction. One of them was Antonio Giorgetti. His admirable St Sebastian, in S. Sebastiano fuori le Mura, retains the beauty of his youth in his martyrdom. To carry out such works successfully the artist needed a profound feeling for the human body combined with a superlative technique.
