Pine Trees (Inside the Asylum Walls)

October 1889, Saint-Rémy
Black chalk, 250 x 325 mm
Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam

Catalogue numbers: F 1569, JH 1827.

This drawing shows familiar ground, as the artist had worked on the trees in the asylum garden early in the summer of 1889. Van Gogh entered the asylum at Saint-Rémy in May 1889 as a third-class voluntary patient.
