The last picture in the lower register shows the saint's departure from Rome in order to take up the position of municipal teacher of rhetoric in Milan. As in the Medici cycle before it, Benozzo has also portrayed secular and religious personalities in the large group of figures. It is thought that the individual features of some citizens are those of contemporaries.
