El Greco and his workshop continued to paint devotional images in the 1600s. Obviously he could not reinvent his means of expression for every new commission, sometimes he simply repeats his compositions. Examples are the Agony in the Garden, Christ Carrying the Cross, the representation of St Francis, and St Peter in Penitence.
