In addition to those in the north aisle, there are eight closed three-part confessionals in the ambulatory and the choir chapels of the Antwerp Cathedral. They were assembled in the 19th century from material originating at the abbey in Hemiksem and from statues of unknown origin. They are beautifully carved. The large figures allude to guilt, repentance and penance.
