The Marriage of Mary

c. 1428
Oil on panel, 77 x 88 cm
Museo del Prado, Madrid

The panel is a central part of a triptych. On the back side St James the Great and St Clare can be seen in grisaille.

There are two scenes with different perspectives represented on this panel. On the left side in a circular church the priest is praying among the rejected suitors, while on the right side in front of the Gothic portal of the Notre-Dame-du-Sablon in Brussels the marriage ceremony is taking place.
