The fresco is part of the ornamentation of the Cambio.
In the larger scenes on the side walls defined by sweeping arches, Perugino painted ancient heroes personifying the cardinal virtues of Temperance and Fortitude. Despite the painter's learning and his skillful treatment of the individual figures, they remain isolated as separate entities within the overall composition.
