Carlo Antonio (Carlantonio) Procaccini was the third-eldest son of Ercole Procaccini (1515-1595), ancestor of a large family of painters. The eldest son was Camillo (1546-1629), certainly the most prolific of this artists' dynasty. Ercole's second eldest son, Giulio Cesare (1570-1625), was a painter, sculptor and graphic artist.

Carlantonio painted mainly landscapes and still-lifes. His Flora follows the model set by Leonardo's Mona Lisa.
