One of the most influential representatives of the classical Baroque in Southern Netherlands is Artus Quellinus the Elder. In 1665, this important interpreter of the Rubens style donated a bust of Luis de Benavides, Marquess of Caracena, Governor-General of the Spanish Netherlands to the Guild of Saint Luke, because the Marquess had pressed for the setting up of the Royal Academy in 1663.
