This drawing has preserved the actual modello for the group on the left in the Entombment (Galleria Borghese, 1507). It is the last study, in which the final composition is for the most part established. Squaring enabled the drawing, which was on a smaller scale, to be transferred easily to the larger format of the painting. | |
