Sansovino had an affinity with Quattrocento sculpture, he was particularly interested in Donatello's work. This is apparent from this bronze statue as well as from his marble statue of the same figure, which was placed next to Donatello's John the Baptist in Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari in Venice. | |
