Swabian portraitist and altarpiece painter, pupil of his sculptor father Ivo Strigel. Strigel worked in Ulm, Augsburg and Nürnberg. He was a portraitist of the Emperor Maximilian I (1459-1519) from 1507. His portraits are very effectual although lack the psychoanalytical elements.
