The manna which falls on the believers refers to the Last Supper and at the same time is an explicit reference to one of the acts of charity carried out by the Scuola di San Rocco: relieving the hunger of the poor. The improvised canopy shown in the picture may be an allusion to the tablecloth of the Last Supper.
