Gabriel was Lautrec's cousin and probably his closest friend. He studied medicine in Paris and passed his final examinations in 1899. After Lautrec's death he campaigned for the street in which Henri was born in Albi to named after him. With Maurice Joyant he built up the Musée Toulouse-Lautrec in Albi, to which he donated many of the pictures in his possession.
