The wooden altarpiece that frames the triptych is a masterpiece of ornate Gothic art. In the central section St Mark is seated on a marble throne, that is already in Renaissance style, and surrounded by angels. On the left St John the Baptist and St Jerome, and on the right St Peter and St Nicholas, flank him.
