Portrait of Giambologna-
Chalk on paper
National Gallery of Scotland, Edinburgh
Federico Zuccaro's chalk portrait of the artist implies that the model of Michelangelo's Samson that Giambologna holds is one the Fleming himself had made. Michelangelo never completed the marble work and the design could have been known to Giambologna only through bronze copies, that is cast models done after it.
