The Passion of Job (second double side of a capital)

c. 1145
Stone
Cathedral, Pamplona

Around the middle of the twelfth century, sculpture connected to pieces of architecture was established throughout Europe, and in Spain it had become one of the favourite types of artistic depiction. Two coupled capitals of the former cloister in the cathedral of Pamplona (Navarra) employ a method of narrative that includes all four sides of the capital and relates the episode chronologically and in sequence. The capitals depicts the sufferings of Job.
