The famous door lintel in the abbey church of Saint-Genis, St-Genis-des-Fontaines (Western Pyrenees) is the work of a workshop in the Pyrenees which produced other sacred decorative pieces. This door lintel has an inscription which gives its date of origin as the twenty-fourth year of the reign of King Robert the Pious, which started in 996. This dates the lintel precisely to the year 1019-20, making it one of the oldest examples of Romanesque stone sculpture.
