Spain possesses a considerable number of sepulchral monuments from the first half of the fourteenth century. They illustrate the same tendencies as those of France. The dramatization of the monument was particularly popular, and there is a long series that includes a funeral procession as part of the decoration. A fine example is the tomb of Bishop Gonzalo de Hinojosa who died in 1327, since this combines what appears to be a portrait effigy with a tomb-chest of remarkably high quality.
