Mosaics in the west narthex were executed uninterrupted between 1215 and 1235. Then after an extended interruption the decoration was completed in the four cupolas of the north narthex between 1260 and 1280.
The fourth and last cupola in the north narthex (following the three Joseph cupolas) is the Moses cupola which contains mosaics depicting the story of Moses.
