This reliquary statue was donated by Queen Jeanne d'Évreux to the Abbey of St Denis in 1339. The Virgin is richly dressed and stands in the elegant S-shaped pose typical of Madonnas of the period. The plates on the plinth represent scenes from the life of Christ.
