Roemer with the motto of Prince Maurits

1606
Clear green glass with diamond-point engraving, height 11,2 cm
Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam

The small roemer with its milled foot-rim, two rows of thorn prunts and the slightly flared bowl is a type of drinking glass very common in the beginning of the 17th century. The scene engraved on the bowl consists of the arms of Prince Maurits, his heraldic motto, and his emblem.
