These unusually large tiles (the standard size being 13 x 13 cm) was ordered by King-Stadholder Willem III and his wife Mary Stuart for their palace at Hampton Court outside London. The Delft pottery, De Grieksche A, which was run at this time by Adriaen Kocks, was capable to carry out the commission.
