This fresco is not a fragment detached from a larger image, it was conceived as an autonomous work, a decorative room painting. The plaster on which the fresco painting is laid, is applied to a support of reeds. The technique is characteristic of Volterrano, who was a skilled mural painter. The work originates from Cardinal Giovan Carlo de' Medici's villa at Castello.
