Both Orazio Gentileschi and his daughter Artemesia Gentileschi were highly individual Caravaggesque painters, whose works spread knowledge of Caravaggio's style in Italy and northern Europe. Orazio's eldest son, Francesco Gentileschi (1597-after 1665), was a painter and art dealer who, in the 1620s and 1630s, is recorded as assisting Orazio and Artemesia; none of his paintings survives.
