The Latin inscription, found under the throne of the Virgin, is the signature of the artist: "Pietro di Lorenzo, a Sienese, painted it with skill". This important work by the great Sienese master was once located in one of the altars of the church built according to the design of Pisano to receive the body of St Margaret.
