RECCO, Italian family of painters

Giacomo Recco was the eldest of this Neapolitan family of still-life painters. He was the father of Giuseppe Recco, the most famous of the family. Giovan Battista Recco may have been Giuseppe's brother, or more probably his uncle. Elena Recco was Giuseppe's daughter. Two of the family members signed their paintings with the monogram G.R., and Giovan Battista with G.B.R. (like Giovanni Battista Ruoppolo) which causes problems of attribution.
