Portraits (1633-39)
by REMBRANDT

After his marriage in 1634, his wife Saskia was the subject of the largest number of single portraits during the 1630s. Rembrandt posed her in mythological dress, particularly in the flower-draped abundance of the goddess Flora, and in formal attire with fastidious profile.

Rembrandt often dressed models in unusual costumes because of their exotic associations.
