This tomb is the first recorded commission of Antonio Rossellini. It is part of the jewel-like mortuary chapel of Jaime of Portugal (a prince of the royal house) who died in Florence aged twenty-five in 1459. The three-walled chapel is a rare example of the harmonious effect which could be achieved when all three arts were brought together in a completed collaborative effort. Manetti designed it and other aspects were undertaken by the Rossellini family, Piero and Antonio Pollaiolo, Alesso Baldovinetti and Luca della Robbia.
