Camera dell'Aurora, Palazzo Farnese, Caprarola

Connecting to the Sala del Concilio is the private apartment of the cardinal, bedchamber (Camera dell'Aurora), dressing room (Stanza dei Lanifici), and study (Stanza della Solitudine).

The general theme of the decoration in the Camera dell'Aurora is related to Night, as a fitting subject for a bedchamber. Zuccaro painted an illusionistic opening of the ceiling through which the sky at daybreak can be seen with several allegoric figures (Aurora, Night, Sleep, Death, Moon, Mercury).
