Plaque with View inside a Gothic Church

1662
Tin-glazed earthenware, 28 x 28 cm
Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam

This plaque is part of a long-standing Delft tradition of depicting the interiors of the city's churches. It shows the whitewashed interior of a Gothic church, which had been stripped of its decoration after the Reformation. A biblical scene is shown in it: the parable of the widow's mite (Mark 12:42-44).
