Umbrian School

Central Italian school of painting of the 15th-16th centuries based on Perugia.

Perugino, the master of Raphael, heralds the space composition of the High Renaissance in his finest works. Pinturicchio illustrates the Umbrian tendency to narrative detail.

In the 17th century Federico Barocci's Correggesque style and colour harmonies foreshadow the Baroque.
