Biography

Italian architect. He worked with Antonio da Sangallo the Elder on the Papal palace and fortifications of La Rocca, CivitÓ Castellana (1494-1500), and carried out other works on the fortifications of Nepi. He was involved in the building of Santa Maria della Consolazione, Todi, a centrally planned church probably derived from sketches by Leonardo da Vinci and from Bramante's designs for San Pietro, Rome. He restored Foligno Cathedral (1512-15), and built the fortress at Porto Ercole (c. 1518).
