SALTINI, Pietro
(b. 1839, Firenze, d. 1908, Firenze)

Biography

Italian painter of historical and genre subjects. He was a pupil of Agostino Lessi (1825-1899) and later of Raffaello Martini and Enrico Pollastrini (1817-1876). Saltini became a professor at the Academy of Florence.

Saltini specialised in and is highly regarded for his detailed genre and interior scenes. He made his name with his pictures of family gatherings with their feeling of togetherness.
