Adoration of the Magi1642-45
Oil on copper, 46 x 36 cm
Schloss Sanssouci, Berlin
Among the few painters who managed to shake themselves free from Roman monumentality - despite studying there - was Sébastien Bourdon, whose silvery colour is seen to good advantage in this Adoration of the Magi.
