CAFFIÉRI, Jean-Jacques
(b. 1725, Paris, d. 1792, Paris)

A River

Marble, height 61 cm
Musée du Louvre, Paris

This sculpture was the artist's "morceau de réception" at the Académie in 1759. The terracotta model appeared at the Salon in 1757, the first to which Caffiéri contributed, with a dazzling array of work in all categories.
