Luigi Crespi was an Italian painter, member of a famous family of Bolognese painters, son of Giuseppe Maria Crespi. His style is far crisper and more Rococo in concept than that of his father, as seen in this balletic image, with its emphasis on a sudden glance and decorously agitated drapery, all in keeping with the light touch of the period.
