LIPPI, Italian family of painters (father and son)

Fra Filippo Lippi, a Carmelite monk who was one of the leading Florentine painters of the mid-15th century, had a son by Lucrezia Buti, the nun he abducted in 1456. This son, Filippino Lippi, became in turn one of the leading Florentine painters of the late 15th century.
