This painting has the characteristic of a 'snapshot' of an aristocratic family gathering. The painter notes the outlines of the differing personalities, the characteristics of the variety of brocades and silks, the lace trimmings, the decorations of a typical Venetian palace.
The painting has a pendant: Peasants Dancing La Furlana, also in a private collection.
