The family was active mainly in Amsterdam. Johannes Lutma the Elder worked mostly as a silversmith, and his designs were published in engravings by his two sons Johannes Lutma the Younger and Jacob Lutma (c. 1624-1654). Jacob's small oeuvre of prints includes portraits and reproductive engravings after other artists.
