In addition to the male portraits painted by Van der Weyden and Memling there are other 15th-century Flemish portraits which do not bear such illustrious names, but which are worthy of our attention all the same. These include the Portrait of Jan zonder Vrees (John the Fearless) which was painted in the 15th century by an anonymous master of the Southern Netherlands.
