MEMLING, Hans
(b. ca. 1440, Seligenstadt, d. 1494, Bruges)

Young Man at Prayer

c. 1475
Oak wood, 38,7 x 25,4 cm
National Gallery, London

The painting was probably the left panel of a triptych, the central panel (probably a Virgin and Child) and the right panel (probably the portrait of a woman) being lost. Others assumed that this was the left panel of a diptych similar to the Nieuwenhove diptych.
