ZUCCARO, Federico
(b. ca. 1542, Sant'Angelo in Vado, d. 1609, Ancona)

Assumption of the Virgin

c. 1566
Oil on canvas
Museo Diocesano, Cortona

The profiles and the faces of the figures resemble those painted by Federico and Taddeo Zuccaro in the Frangipane Chapel of S. Marcello al Corso in Rome and those of the Farnese Palace in Caprarola.

The painting was probably the property of a suppressed church in Cortona, afterwards placed in the chapter of the cathedral.
