Round Sweetmeat Box

The sweetmeat box is graced with six miniatures under glass, painted in the style of cameos. On the lid the artist reproduced an agate-sardonyx cameo from the gallery of the grand duke of Tuscany, showing Jupiter personified by an eagle, Juno seated drawing near her young Ganymede, standing and nude. The miniature on the inside represents a warrior taking an oath beside a young woman; last the rim is adorned with allegories of the four seasons.
