At the base of the pair of candlesticks are the linked arms of the Medici and the Pfalz-Neuburg, surmounted by the electoral crown of the Rhine. It is an evidence that the two objects were owned by Anna Maria Luisa de' Medici, wife of the Elector Palatine Johann Wilhelm von der Pfalz-Neuburg. The candlesticks were brought to Florence by the Electress after the death of her husband in 1717.
