This basin for holding cut flowers is adorned with a "tesnière", that is, a scene painted in the manner of the works by the Flemish painter David Teniers the Younger. These "tesnières" were much in vogue at the Sèvres factory between 1758 and 1764. The scene was painted by André-Vincent Vielliard who was active at the Sèvres factory between 1752 and 1790.
