Sèvres Jardinière

1767
Porcelain, height 13,5 cm
Private collection

The decoration of this jardinière (cuvette à fleurs Verdun) was painted by Charles-Louis Méreaud the Younger (c. 1735-1780) with a band of scrolling flowers against a gilt seeded ground, hung with laurel and flower swags, moulded glt-edged foliate handles. This decoration is found on several Sèvres pieces, dated between 1766 and 1769, mostly signed by Méreaud.
