The three paintings on the predella of the Perugia Triptych depict the story of St Nicholas.
The third predella painting shows the liberation by St Nicholas of three innocents condamned (on the left) and the death of the Saint (on the right).
On the right side of this panel the starkness of a lightly articulated wall forces attention on the dying saint.
